World Built

This is going to be a longer post, and I'll be explaining my world from simple to extensive, hopefully starting with simple first.

Longer than written history Yavn has been inhabited by six Elements. These Elements are beings that are the pure essence of each element that exists in the country of Yavn (yes, it's a country, not a world). They are Water, Fire, Earth, Air, Ice and Lightning. Each Element has it's own attributes and personalities. Whenever someone is born (with a few exceptions), they are "claimed" by an Element, and that person is said to be "of that Element." The main differences between people of different Elements lies in their personality. The person tends to match their Element. Also, for one to use the magic of the land, the person must have a power gem that is also of the correct Element. Without the gem, the person cannot use magic. Over time, the people of Yavn have grown dependant upon their magic, and it's used for all sorts of things ranging from simply using it as a tool, to enhancing weapons and such.

Yavn's a rather small country. It's borders haven't changed like ever. Partly because no Yavnian feels at home when they're beyond the reach of the Elements' power, and they can only go so far.

This will also be updated when I feel like adding more information, or when I think of something else about Yavn.

Semi-Basic Plot

So this post is going to start with the basic plot, and hopefully keep up with some changes.

As of pre-NaNo '07:
Group of six kids (one from each Element, see World Built post) are taken as slaves and end up with the same master. Escape, save their homeland from impeding doom due to sudden loss of Elemental powers.

As of finished first draft (June '08):
Same as above, but at some point get side-tracked and end up saving a specific province from an evil group.

As of about... Dec '08 - April '09:
Aforementioned side-track gets taken over by another set of characters, so original six can finish their original mission.

As of May 18, '09:
Decided to totally rewrite thing. Not sure exactly how, but evil group gets redesigned, characters most likely about the same, events re-arranged, writing hopefully better.


Plans are for this post to get updated every once in a while, or at least every time I add a major plot item.

Yay For New Blogs!

Ello! This is a side-blog, one for writing about my writing on a story called Crystal Glare. It's a story I did for a 2007 NaNoWriMo, but it turned out way sloppier than I wanted. I'm starting a replot and rewrite, and this is hopefully to help me brainstorm and keep me accountable. Posts here most likely mean work done on my novel... They'd better mean work done on my novel.

At any rate, the next few posts will give the basic plot (hopefully to be updated once in a while) along with characters lists and so on and so forth.
